Backlinks

Name a domain to see its live backlinks, referring domains and most linked pages. Every lookup stores a snapshot, and the History tab charts how the totals moved between them.

Backlinks shows who links to a domain, yours or a competitor’s. Only links that still exist count, and links between pages of the same site are left out.

Look up a domain

Type the domain and choose Look it up. The summary costs 241 credits and shows five figures:

Figure What it is
Backlinks Live links pointing at the domain, subdomains included.
Referring domains Distinct domains those links come from.
New backlinks Links found recently, with how many were lost beside it.
Broken backlinks Links that point at a page on the domain that no longer answers.
Domain rank A 0 to 100 authority score, worked out from the links.

Every lookup also stores a snapshot of these totals for the project.

The lists

Four tabs sit under the summary:

  • Backlinks: each link, with the page it comes from, its anchor text, the linking domain’s rank and whether the link is follow or nofollow.
  • Referring domains: each linking domain, with its rank, how many links it sends and how many of them are follow.
  • Most linked pages: the domain’s pages ordered by links, with how many links and linking domains each has.
  • History: the stored snapshots, one row per lookup, with the backlink and referring-domain totals at the time. It needs two lookups before it shows movement, and reading it is free.

The first three tabs are paid lists. Each page of 50, 100 or 200 rows is its own lookup: netweft holds up to 312 credits for a page and charges what the data vendor bills, a fixed fee per request plus a little per row.

The same lookup within 24 hours answers from a stored copy and costs nothing.

Snapshots of your own domain

The project Overview reports backlinks for the project’s own domain. Taking a fresh snapshot there costs the same 241 credits as a summary here, and only one snapshot per project runs at a time.
