**Search performance shows a project's own Google data: Search Console queries and pages with clicks, impressions, CTR and position, and Analytics sessions, active users and key events. Reading it costs no credits.**

**Search performance** shows what Google itself reports about the project's
site. The figures come straight from Google, so reading them costs no credits.

## Connect Google

netweft asks Google only for read-only access, and only when a project needs
it, never at sign-in:

| Source | Google permission | What it reads |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Search Console | `webmasters.readonly` | queries and pages with clicks, impressions, CTR and position |
| Analytics | `analytics.readonly` | sessions, active users, engagement and key events |

To connect a project:

1. Open **Project settings**, then **Integrations**.
2. Choose to connect Search Console or Analytics. Google asks you to approve
the read-only permission for the Google account you are signed in with.
3. Pick the Search Console property or the Analytics property this project
reads, and choose **Use this property**.

Owners and admins connect and disconnect properties. Each project picks its
own, so two projects can read two different sites from the same Google
account.

## Search Console

The **Search Console** tab shows totals for the window (clicks, impressions,
CTR and average position) and a table that switches between search queries and
pages:

- Choose a window of 7, 28, 90 or 365 days; 28 is the default.
- Filter queries or pages by text. The filter searches the whole window,
not only the rows on screen.
- Page through 25, 50 or 100 rows at a time, and export the table as CSV.

Google's data lags a few days, so the most recent days of any window are
usually empty.

## Analytics

The **Analytics** tab shows sessions, active users and key events for the same
window, broken down by channel, landing page or device.

## When something is wrong

- **Not connected.** Nobody has picked a property for this project yet. Open
  **Integrations**.
- **Permission missing or expired.** Google no longer grants the read-only
permission, for example after it was revoked in the Google account. Connect
  again from **Integrations**.
- **Archived project.** An archived project keeps any connection it had but
  cannot start a new one.
