# netweft vs Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz and DataForSEO

> How netweft differs from the SEO suites people already pay for, and the five cases where it is the wrong tool and something else is the right one.

netweft is compared on the shape of the product rather than on a feature count. No page quotes another product's price, counts its features or rates its data.

## The comparisons

- [Ahrefs alternative, compared on shape](https://netweft.com/compare/ahrefs): A crawled link index sold per seat, against per-operation metering over a vendor's data. What each one charges for, and five things netweft does not do.
- [Semrush alternative, compared on shape](https://netweft.com/compare/semrush): A whole marketing platform against five metered capabilities. What is inside each subscription, and the five categories netweft leaves out entirely.
- [Moz alternative, compared on shape](https://netweft.com/compare/moz): Proprietary authority metrics against measured observations with named provenance. What netweft refuses to compute, and why that is sometimes the wrong choice.
- [DataForSEO API, or a product on top of it](https://netweft.com/compare/dataforseo): netweft's own data provider, and the honest case for skipping netweft and calling it directly. What the layer adds, and when it adds nothing.

## Where netweft is the wrong tool

**The work is link building**

netweft reads backlink data from a provider per request. It does not crawl the web, it holds no index of its own, and it cannot answer a question that requires one — such as which pages on the whole web link to a phrase.

**You need content tooling**

There are no briefs, no outlines, no optimisation scores and no writing assistant. The per-project assistant answers questions about the workspace's own stored figures, and is explicitly prevented from stating a number it did not read back through a tool.

**You need paid, social or local**

Organic only. Paid search, display, social and local are not in the product and are not planned into it.

**You need white-label client reporting**

Reports are the dashboard and the API. There is no white-label PDF, no client portal and no branded export.

**You need to evaluate for free**

There is no free tier and no free trial without a subscription started — a workspace with no subscription has no access. If the requirement is to evaluate without entering a card, netweft cannot meet it.
